Arabian Fiberglass Insulation Co. (AFICO), participated in the sixth annual International Building and Construction Show, “The Big 5 Saudi 2016,” which was opened by Jeddah Municipality Mayor Dr. Hani Mohammad Aburas. The show was held at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events from March 7 to 10, 2016.
Since its launch in February 2011, the Big 5 Saudi has seen unprecedented success and has increased in size as a result, with an additional purpose-built hall and outdoor area. More than 16,000 visitors and more than 500 exhibitors from 35 countries participated in this year’s event. The Saudi construction market is likely to continue to increase in size as the country plans to invest US$806 billion in upcoming projects, from now until 2030.
On-site representatives from the AFICO businesses reported brisk activity on each day of the event. Current customers came to the stands to check on new developments and renew connections, while many potential clients took the opportunity to become acquainted with the company’s total insulation solutions. Attendees included contractors, consultants and construction professionals from the entire GCC region as well as Saudi Arabia.
Exhibitors showcased the latest products and technologies to support the more efficient and sustainable construction drive by the Kingdom. Visitors who attended the show gained knowledge from the many workshops and seminar series, which provided professionals with the training needed to progress within their careers.
The success of the show is testimony to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to investing in and building a sustainable nation that will ultimately benefit the economy. Arabian Fiberglass Insulation Co. (AFICO) participated in the Big 5 International Building and Construction Show 2015 held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 23-26, 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Center.
The company’s booth attracted numerous contractors, consultants, and customers from the MENA and GCC regions. The business representatives spent the successful four-day session cultivating new contacts and inquiries as well as strengthening existing relationships with key customers and taking the opportunity to introduce their product portfolios to new and former clients from various commercial, industrial, and other sectors in the region.
The Big 5 show is the global meeting place for the construction industry and the largest gathering of building and construction events in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. This year’s event included seminars, professional workshops, and live product demonstrations that offered participants the chance to gain essential knowledge about sustainable building concepts and provided building professionals with the necessary tools for project implementation.

(AFICO) participated as Diamond Sponsor in the Armed Forces Exhibition for Diversification of Local Manufacturing (AFED), which was organized by the Saudi Ministry of Defense and held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center from February 21 to 27, 2016.
The purpose of AFED is to support the government strategy to localize the Kingdom’s defense industry, diversify the economy, and to break the monopoly of international companies in the defense sector. Reaching these goals will help to further enhance the national security as well as allow the private sector, local factories and specialized labs to introduce their products and display their capabilities for participation in local industrialization operations.
The exhibition highlighted the objectives of these national programs, which include achieving economic diversification and raising the level of local content to encourage investment and support non-oil exports, globalize local facilities and support a new knowledge economy of innovation and productivity.

(Zamil Industrial)AFICO participated as a Gold Sponsor in the Exhibition and Symposium of Projects With Distinction in the Era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which was held under the auspices of HRH Prince Dr. Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, 21 – 25 September 2014, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Many government ministries, municipalities and government bodies participated in the event to highlight their most prominent and important projects that have been executed or are still under execution in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques HRH King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The event provided the opportunity for a large number of visitors to be exposed to several mega projects. It also featured a symposium in which distinctive new technologies implemented in the construction and project management fields were exhibited.
In its second session, the exhibition and associated forum have been considered the largest media umbrella that identified mega projects implemented and being implemented in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and their great importance to the country and to the citizens and residents.
HRH Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, officially inaugurated the new Arabian Fiberglass Insulation Co. Ltd. (AFICO) factory in Dammam Second Industrial City on Wednesday, 15 January 2014. Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah and a group of distinguished senior officials and businessmen from the Eastern Province were also in attendance. AFICO is a member company of Gulf Insulation Group, a sector business of Zamil Industrial Investment Co. (Zamil Industrial).
Upon his arrival at the venue, Prince Saud cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. He then toured the plant and listened to a detailed description of the workings of the factory, including its production lines and packing and shipping processes. The new factory has successfully completed the pilot production process and has commenced the commercial production of fiberglass insulation materials for a variety of customers in local and regional markets.
The Prince spoke briefly, expressing his pride and admiration for this advanced industrial facility and its contribution to the support of existing industrial projects in the Kingdom, and praising the efforts of the founders of this exciting project.
On this celebrated occasion, Khalid Abdullah Al Zamil, Chairman of Gulf Insulation Group, delivered a speech, during which he acknowledged the keen interest and participation of the Kingdom leadership and His Royal Highness in support of this and other ventures aimed at the development of the industrial sector and at the achievement of overall economic development in the Kingdom. He stressed that the establishment of the new plant is a key part of the company’s strategic plan to develop Saudi Arabian industrial capacity and to meet the growing demand for high-quality insulation materials for use in industrial, commercial and residential projects.
Al Zamil also stated that the new factory has an installed capacity of 24,000 MT, increasing the company’s total manufacturing capacity in its combined plants to 37,000 MT per annum. The new plant will manufacture products primarily for use in the different segments of the construction industry. The additional production capacity will also enable AFICO to introduce energy-efficient, environmentally friendly fiberglass insulation products to the marketplace.These products are expected to assist local governing authorities in the GCC countries in the implementation of more stringent building code requirements aimed at increasing energy efficiency and improving fire safety standards.
Finally, Al Zamil praised the role of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in supporting the private sector in general and the industrial sector in particular, since the industrial sector is the main engine of economic growth and job creation for Saudi citizens.
At the conclusion of the inaugural ceremony, special souvenirs were presented to the Prince and the Minister of Commerce and Industry in commemoration of the occasion.
